One Life - One Flag - One Voice.
This display contains 7300 American Flags. Each flag represents an American Veteran who has succumbed to the unseen injuries caused by PTSD, and took their own life. Please pause for a moment and join us in remembering them. The Battlewithin Foundation is rasing awareness of these tradegies and working to ensure that every veteran knows there is an ear ready to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and people ready to just sit beside you and let you know we care.
Every flag tells the story of their soldier. As the flag is placed into the ground the ones that had already given up hope silently and easily assume their position in the field.
Others resist until they reach their breaking point and slowly succumb to their place.
Then there are those that truly struggle. They fight until they break but still don't give up. The struggle continues until finally the pressure is too much.
All of these battles are fought silently and within the soul. The struggle, the hopelessness, the attempts to be strong are fought in complete silence. All hidden by a smile.
But what if the soldier knew there was an ear to listen, a friend to quietly whisper advice and the needed, "I'm here. It will be ok". A friend to show them the way to help. What if every soldier knew they were not alone and there was a way to lessen the pain. A way to ease the burden. Knowing that the Battle Within was winnable. That those that love them, love the unconditionally. Together we can win this battle.. Together we can make tomorrow happen.
What if every soldier knew we were there just to be there and listen.
As masons we need to ensure everyone has access to our 5 points.

I will use my feet for your important errands.
I will use my knees to pray.
My outstretched hand will provide support.
My faithful breast will keep your secrets.
My ear will always be attentive.
And my voice will be used to guide.
